Major accomplishments in the last three months
The Ethiopian Poultry Producers and Processors Association (EPPPA) has been working hard to protect its members interest with the financial support from Agriterra which is a Netherlands None Governmental Organization (NGO) working in Ethiopia to strengthen private sector associations to render efficient services for their members. In line with this, the following activities were performed in the past three months.
- With regard to the common challenges faced by the members that could potentially harm the business environment, the Ethiopian Poultry Producers and Processors Association (EPPPA) has been making colossal effort to create awareness among policy makers at all levels and unlike the previous year’s better response in addressing the issue would be anticipated from the government.
- Follow up on the revised action plan for 2016 completed with success and approved by the donor agency at the Agriterra Headquarter subsequently, the contract agreement signed by the country office and the designated bodies of EPPPA on June 17, 2016. In this respect, the first installment released on August 8, 2016.
- Comprehensive Database related to EPPPA members is already established and currently data entry is underway to update the records as per the information supplied from each member.
- Improving the filing system attempted by opening folders and subfolders as necessary that corresponds to the main title within the box file. For instance, in the finance box file there are various documents like Bank statement, check’s, receipts & voucher, pending payments, reconciliation, ledger etc. that should be kept in separate subfolders on chronological order.
- As per the guidance of the EPPPA Board Chairman a project document to strengthen EPPPA and the value chain actors working in poultry production and processing prepared and submitted to USAD for consideration.
- The recent price escalation on poultry product particularly on eggs is considered as an alarming occurrence by the Ethiopian Poultry Producers and Processors Association who is currently working in close collaboration with relevant government bodies to investigate the cause.
